Originally brewed in the summer of 2011 on Thornbridge's 10bbl kit, 'Coalition', the inspiration for 'Burton Ale' stemmed from discussions between Dominic at Thornbridge Brewery and Evin at The Kernel Brewery about brewing beer along historic lines in styles unknown to them. With the help of beer historian Ron Pattinson, they decided to brew a Burton Ale.

Thirteen years later, Thornbridge has brewed it again, but this time with a significant difference. Earlier this year, Thornbridge acquired a Burton Union Set from Marstons Brewery, a unique system of fermentation. It was clear to them that they should revisit the 2011 Burton Ale, this time fermented on the newly installed Union Set. They are excited to be part of preserving this historical brewing method and to see how the Union System influences the finished beer.

Bottled at 7.2%, the Burton Ale offers a rich sweetness and caramel notes from the malts, while Golding hops and British yeast contribute a fruity and bittersweet finish. The increased body and warmth from the higher ABV make it a perfect choice for colder weather.

500ml bottle, 7.2% ABV
