Oud Beersel Demi-Muids

In 2013, Oud Beersel acquired 65 Demi-Muids to mature its Lambic beers. These oak barrels, each good for 600L and equipped with thick staves , were mainly used in the wine industry to mature Chateauneuf du Pape wine before ending up in our barrel rooms in Beersel. The thicker staves reduce oxygen uptake compared to other small barrels, and the result is a much rounder and more tender taste.

For the 2021 Oude Geuze Barrel Selection Demi-Muids, we selected our very best Demi-Muids containing Lambic from one to four years old , and the end product is a beautifully complex beer.
