For many people in Forchheim, the Annafest is the absolute highlight of the event calendar. No fewer than 23 beer cellars in the region open their doors for a major event that attracts countless visitors every year. There is lively music on seven stages and the 65 showmen offer a wide range of entertainment for young and old. Under the shady oak trees in the Kellerwald forest, visitors can enjoy the region's delicious beer and enjoy Franconian specialties. The first Annafest took place in 1840 and the event has been growing in popularity ever since.
In addition to all the attractions, the festival offers one thing above all: an abundance of fresh, cool beer. Fifteen breweries from the region contribute their hoppy creations and often even brew their own festival beer especially for the occasion. Among these breweries is, of course, Forchheimer Greif Bräu. Every year in July, the traditional brewery releases an Annafestbier, which is produced according to a family recipe handed down from generation to generation.
The bottom-fermented beer is brewed seasonally and brings a pleasant 5.5% by volume into the glass. Its harmonious malt character flatters the palate with a full-bodied palette of roasted and caramel notes, while a strong spiciness and hints of toasted nuts and bitter hops perfect the aroma.
