Brewed in collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery, our Rauchbier is a smoky lager with huge character derived from a harmonious blend of quality German malt and subtle yeast esters.
Dark mahogany with a creamy off-white head and an immediate full-on smoky aroma that quickly starts to reveal layers of vanilla, raspberry, coffee, toffee, maple syrup and chocolate. There’s a lot going on and different characteristics come to the fore with every sip, but it’s a refreshingly light and easy drinking beer; the smokiness gently subsiding as the layers are peeled away, leading to a smooth, sweet finish. At its core this is a dark, malty lager with just enough smoke… like a liquid version of a pack of Revels, eaten by the fire.
